He rose from the deep caverns into the light again and saw the world shifting.

A tingling sensation and a pain flared through his chest as the truth seized his mind. Then everything stopped as the darkness encapsulated the landscape. Slowly but tightly, he opened his eyes and found himself in the wilderness.

As he lay on the trampled grass, the wind stirred the trees as they swayed to their ancient song. His conscience returned to him. He stood up and threw himself up from the chasm.

His mind echoed the dreaded words he uttered from his mouth, and tears brimmed in his eyes. He would remember the caverns of the deep and its hideous recesses but his tainted conscience would never forget the pain and agony which he had sought long ago into the treacherous lands of the deep. As he landed on the soft forest floor, he recollected the task at his hand and took off into the perilous track.

Jared’s voice drifted through the trees, and he knew it was time.

He peered through the trees and looked at the charred ground. Long flitting and arch shadows stretched across the clearing way past the glowing holy circle. The wind carried an occult scent of ill fate and unspeakable malice.

The trail drifted all the way into the forest which emanated a peculiar melody which made the trees thrum with energy as if it were a living creature. Again, a hooting shattered through the silence and that was the sign. Mark lifted the bow from his shoulders and held it towards the light; he took an arrow from his quiver and tied it to a rope on the side of his bag.
