Mark fell onto the floor as his ankle twisted. Something grabbed his hand and helped him get up.

He stood and saw a slim figure, feminine posture gazing at him. A torn scarf was wrapped around her head and she was covered in a silver hood. She wore a grey-green mask to conceal her face, but her stormy grey eyes pierced into his form. He quickly ducked under the table and reached for his knife, but did not find it. She pushed him onto the floor and she flicked his hunting knife.

“Who are you?? How did you follow me?? I want answers unless you want me to cut your throat and pile them up with the other monsters that I have hunted.” Mark said.

“Well, I think a little gratitude would be fine for saving you from the forest. For healing you, carrying you the whole way back to your home, and you want to kill me? Thank you for so much respect.”

“Why did you save me in the first place? You could have just walked away.”

“I think you already know the answer.”

“You want something from me in return. Very well, I owe you my life. Demand what you wish, but know first that if what you demand is within my reach, only then you will get it.”

“Well, I want to track someone down, someone who did horrible things… to me.”

“First, let me understand your true intentions. I do not want to start a civil war,”

“You have already started it. You do remember that the soldiers are after you because you killed the king’s son. In addition to that, some monsters are also hunting you for some unknown reason. I can still sense them nearby.”

“I did not kill the king’s son. He and I were hunting for pr……… price. Something that I do not need to share with you. He was killed by…… I do not remember.”

“Well, let me clear up things. I know that you are still unconvinced, so let me put this straight: You help for the favour you owe and because if you don’t, then it can have ill…. consequences.”

“Very well, then. It’s settled. We need to discuss the whole thing. Then we can start hunting. So let’s start discuss-“

“No. Not here. This place is not safe for a private discussion. We must do it at some place more secure and where the soldiers will least expect us to be. We will meet after two days in Evarsoer Bar in Dolandor Vare village.”

“That’s fine with me, but I do not understand why you had to make the noise in my sister’s room. A little politeness would have been fine. There was no need to scare me.”

“I am polite and I need your help, which means you have to believe me. I wasn’t the one who made that noise. I was waiting for you to wake up. I was the one who nursed you back to health or that bite on the neck would have cost your life. Where did you get that bite from??”

“It was….. I do not remember it. It was dangerous, but still, I do not remember it.” Mark lied.

“So it is decided then and oh!. Keep your head safe if you want your goal and mine to succeed. People like you are rare to find these days.”

With that, she started towards the door. As she was about to open the door, he warned her about the Slyvians, but she just laughed in return. She winked and disappeared with the wind.
